Trillium Creek

A Solar, Green, and Thriving Community

How it all adds up

  • A homeowner at Trillium Creek could build a 750 square foot home for as little as $175,000 by sharing a lot.
  • A 1,500 square foot home on a shared lot could start at $316,750.
  • A 1,000 square foot home on its own Trillium Creek lot could cost $350,000.

In perspective, Zillow.com reported in September 2014 that

the median price for homes sold in Arcata, California is $275,000.

None of those median priced homes sold in Arcata included

a 17 acre forest conservation easement private to the community;

a shared common hall;

a shared children’s play area;

and a shared garden.

None were in a meadow walkable and bikeable to town.

Roger's and Peggy's intentions about cost:

  • Costs of bringing Trillium Creek to the point where we and our future neighbors can build is being divided proportionally among us and buyers.
  • Much of what is needed for families to build custom homes is not inexpensive, and we will continue to work creatively and collaboratively to keep those costs down.
  • Costs of maintaining shared spaces and utilities will be shared by all of us through a home owners’ association.
  • We are generating ideas for the neighborhood to raise funds for ongoing maintenance, such as hosting weddings and family reunions.
